Thanks, both.
The problem is not that I dont know how to use learning, the problem is that the
update does NOT seem to use more than 45 games in my databases for learning.

You can instruct learning games J to N  N-J is >45 but it appears that only 45
games are accepted....That is my observation.
Yes weightings etc in the book are modified, BUT I want to use my entire _new_
collection of games in a database I opened up for learning, not just 45 games.
