Concerning CM8k I brought up the unturnable variation board (in a "it would be nice if" style - I find that brings better results than the "a joke" method) to John Merlino when CM8k was new. He accepted my comment as reasonable, but I havn't checked to see if this is included in CM9k. I found with CM8k that the weaker the "Personality" the sooner the engine "kicks in when there are still moves in its tree". I assumed this was part of the weakening process. I believe CM8k goes all the way to the end of the tree for the CM8k personality. "is this something good" depends entirely on the strength of the book moves. I think it is reasonable to expect that the CM8k bookmoves are All good and were selected by an, at least, Expert Player. If you are not talking about CM8k I suggest you mention which program you are discussing. Regards Tina
