Thanks > >D Don't worry, your computer is fine, you just have it confused. Read your help file - check and see what directories can be ACTUALLY SHARED via direct connection. (Yes, the sharing selection is vital, but maybe not the only thing needed. I seem to vaguely remember not all could be shared. YMMV It's timing out because the settings are incorrect. It is waiting for the host to acknowledge it's query. You may find it much easier to work with direct cabling from the serial ports of both computers. I did. You can't now upload data to the net because the settings have been changed, and it's trying (unsuccessfully) to send the data to the wrong port/(and or), address/interrupt. Good luck, Dave
