Best overclocking combo would be whichever AthlonXP you can afford plus an Epox
8KHA+ (about $90-100). It has the KT266a chipset(don't get the 8KHA w/ the
KT266). The KT266a chipset is currently the fastest Athlon compatible chipset.
In raw performance with 150Mhz(300DDR) ram it gets the same transfer rate as the
fastest RDRAM available BUT with much, much lower latency.

Since memory is quite expensive now days Crucial PC2100 (from www.crucial.com)
may be the way to go. It's suppose to do between 150-166mhz or so. If you've got
a little bit more cash to spend try grabbing some Corsair PC2700. I have some
Corsair XMS PC2400 and so far it's been great at 151MHz(302Mhz DDR). I haven't
tried any higher but it's suppose to top out around 175Mhz or so with 4-way
interleave, 8k page blocks, CAS2, etc (all tweaks).

The two things I like most about the Epox 8KHA+ is easy voltage modification for
higher CPU voltages (more voltage = more stability at higher clock speeds) and
the fact it has 1/5 & 1/6 pci multipliers and similar AGP multipliers to allow
'normal' operation at 166 and even up to and over 200fsb. This is TRUE 200fsb
which would be 400MHz+ DDR. It has an option of a 3/4 ram multiplier so you can
run a nice 200Mhz(400DDR) fsb and 150MHz(300DDR) memory. 33Mhz PCI, 66Mhz AGP,
etc.

For instructions on voltage modifying the board go to

Don't worry about soldering to the top right pin, you can use the case itself or
push the wires under one of the motherboard mounting screws for ground. Radio
shack should have 220k ohm 1/4 watt resistors.. If you like to tinker you could
try a variable resistor along with a fixed so you can 'fine tune' it to a good
voltage. I should recommend that you do not exceed 2.3v or 60C, whichever comes
first.

As for cooling... considering ease of use and exceptional cooling ability I
highly recommend the Thermalright SK6. It is 0.14c/w and will basically cool
anything you can throw at it to acceptable levels.

If you have any questions reguarding how to stabilize the system at higher bus
speeds, which 4in1 drivers to use for maximum stability, which detonator
drivers, etc drop me an email.

Everything I've mentioned here can be found on www.pricewatch.com. If you're
curious as to which company is the best take a look on www.resellerratings.com
to make sure you're not buying from a bad company.

Also, almost forgot to mention. If you don't have any soldering experience there
are pomona IC leg clips available (will have to root around for the URL). They
basically allow you to plug the resistor, wire or whatnot into them then clip it
onto the IC leg you need to without any soldering.
