I was curious about learning to play Go a while back, so I tried to learn and I
didn't really get it. I sort of understand how to play now, but at a
super-beginner level. About all I know is that if you surround the other guy's
stones, they come off the board.

I couldn't really get the overall objective of the game, meaning that if I tried
to play, I pretty much made random moves, having no idea what I'm doing, and
finally by the time I can "see" anything, it's about the time my opponent takes
half my stones off the board.

When I learned chess, I could at least see examples of why a tactic worked, but
when I search for Go tutorials online, I don't understand why a certain move was
made at all, even with explaination.

Aside from that, I hear Go programs are extrememly harder to write, so I'm
sticking to chess :)
