AFAIK Go is accepted to be the oldest games with no signifacnt change in the rules. The last two major changes where: Board went to 19x19 from 17x17 and the Japanese players stopped putting stones on the handicap points for the intial board position for even games. (what i mean is that back in the Tokagowa Shogunante, the Japanese broke away from the Chinese trandition of starting a game with 4 stones already on the board on the diagonal 4,4 points. The Chinese continued this tradition up till the early 20th cen.) And Go is elegant, deep, complex....but CUTE???? Grr.. ;) JW
