I have Fritz 7 running on Windows 98 with 384 SDRAM and 16 Bit Resolution selected . I do have some problems with the Fritz 7 program, but I don't know if it is attributed to the resolution setting. I do know that the Chess Mentor Program will not function with 32 bit resolution, but it will with 16 bit selected. That is mentioned in Chess Mentor's Web site. There was a crashing problem that I did have with the Fritz 5.32 program when it was released a few years ago. It would crash from any normal use. The remedy for that was given to me by Steve Lopez (Author of T-Notes) from the Chessbase Help Line. THAT WAS: To lower the setting of the Graphics Accelerator. In windows 98 that would be to: 1.Right click on My Computer 2.Left click on Properties 3.Left click on the Performance Tab 4.Left click on the Graphics Button 5.Lower the Slide adjustment usning the left button. I lowered mine from the Full setting down two notches and the Fritz program worked fine after that. When I tried raising the Grapics Acceleration to where it was originally, the same problem would then occur. I Lowered it again and everything was fine. I did this test a number of times with the same results each time. Thank you Steve Lopez for that information. But now I am running the Fritz 7 Program, and I have had a number of Crashes since it's release. Many I have mentioned here early on before everyone began noticing problems as well. One such problem was when selecting the Crosstable feature while an engine tournament was in progress, a program crash would result. I am noticing now, that while in the Database Selection, when using the Filter. If you enter an Invalid name for example, (miss- spelled or whatever) of course it should then read No Games Found, which is fine but if you do this a few times, the program may crash. It has with me, quite a few times. Many many bugs are surfacing with Fritz 7 as is becoming quite obvious of late. I see many writing in with the thought that their operating systems are corrupted, or perhaps the new Windows XP is the problem. In many of these cases however, their other Chessbase programs are running perfectly fine. I too have uninstalled and reinstalled the Fritz 7 program a few times with the same problems. Eventually, you learn how to avoid some of the crashes, or reduce the number of them somewhat, but in my opinion, we should not have to constantly worry about that. I think Chessbase Released Fritz 7 a little to soon. Perhaps Fritz 15 or 20 will be bug free when they come out. Brian
