  I think Uri is partly right.  You could write a client program for IGS that
automatically read out and/or let you explore interactively very simple
positions (ladders, geta) and allowed you to refer to joseki or life and death
databases easily.  That would be computer cheating and would make one play
better go if used, erm, properly.

  It could also use a go engine to suggest moves.  That feature would probably
be almost completely useless, though.

 Obviously, I have not done that nor do I suggest anyone should do it.  But it
is possible.
