If each side has <16 points on the board, there are opposite coloured bishops (and no other bishops) otherwise equal minor pieces and equal major pieces (in value at least) and there are the same amount of pawns then just halve the score. If the number of pawns differs by one then halve the score too - I'm wondering if I should perhaps give a less severe penalty for that. Anyway, it works ;) (for this position at least) Cheers, Col
