This is a good suggestion but a different issue.  There is no
substitute for the personal contact and company of fellow
programmers and interested ones.  This is what a tournament is
all about as far as I'm concerned.  The extra ceremony and
tradition gives it more meaning to us human types.   The same
argument with automated games where everyone sends a version.
It may be interesting in it's own right but it's not like a
real tournament!

And nothing gets the blood boiling more than watching your own
program win or lose a game while you stand helplessly by!
It's an addiction, a drug and I must have some more ...
