BTW, I think one reason I switched to Nalimov is that the Thompson tables don't
go as high as 5-man, but perhaps I'm remembering that wrong...

I guess some people keep their 3-man tables in one dir, their 4-man in a
separate dir, the 5-man in yet another. That's why Shredder let's you specify
multiple directories for your table-base files.

Your mileage may vary, but what works fine for me is to have all my Nalimov
files in one dir. In my case I just put it in c:\tb That way any/all chess
programs I have that reads Nalimov tables reads the tables from there. By
default Shredder wants the tables as a sub-dir under the Shredder dir, so I'm
overriding the Shredder default by following this practice.

So:
1) Copy the 3 and 4-man tables from the Shredder CDrom into c:\tb (or where ever
you like on your hard drive, but I'm calling it c:\tb in this post)

2) copy the 5-man tables you downloaded into the same c:\tb dir

3) in Shredder 6 do menu Extras\Engines\Endgame Database and click the "..."
button to select c:\tb - you'll know shredder found them when you see it pause
to check all those table-base files, I think the pause happens when you click
"OK" and then each time you start shredder

3.a) in that same dialog box you can increase the amount of RAM dedicated to the
table-base cache. I can't advise you on a good setting for this, but since it
only gets used for tablebase processing I set this way lower that my alt-h main
hash table size setting.

4) Check the Program Files\Shredder directory - is there another \Tablebases dir
there? If so I'd blow it away to get the hard-disk space back, since everything
is now in c:\tb
