I based my comment on the statistics...and I could be very wrong. I have played many, many thousands of games with chessmaster and altered personalities. If the Gui has no effect, then some chessmaster personalities that I have made are about 200 points better than programs like crafty and yace...that seems very unlikely... If you believe the SSDF list, then crafty is only a little weaker than the default chessmaster...about 20 points...to beat crafty at various time controls by 200 points is ridiculous...it might lead someone to think something is wrong...or some of the CM personalities are beyond any other programs by 50 points or more...and that isn't the case.. But...I could be very wrong...the winboard engines could be completely outclassed in any Gui...
