This, you could test yourself.
There is now difference between most of the Winboard engines in Chessmaster and
Chessmaster's own engine is a Winboard engine.
The only engine I have found that gives a little difference is Bringer, he gain
a little because it is run as a foreground app if you don't click on the
chessmaster GUI after the game has started. This is very noticeable when you run
a comp-comp match with 'ponder on' on a single cpu machinem here ut would gain
much.
With 'ponder on' there could be other engines that perform less than normal if
they lower their search priority but I don't know any engines that do it now.
Gerbil's first versions did it but I think I read somewhere that he was running
with normal priority now and let the priority change be an option.
