Yes, this is the 0.18 micron AthlonXP. Yes, I'm using a homebuilt liquid cooler (pictures at ftp://speedycpu.dyndns.org/pub/overclockstuff/pics/athlonxp/ modpc-1 through 3.jpg). Yes, my radiator is (sort of) inside the case, it's on the side near the top... PC is fully mobile. I tried unlocking the CPU in the past but this motherboard is crap, it will not let me change the multiplier with any unlocked CPU. It just won't post. Max FSB is around 155 or so (need to cool the chipset down to push it any further). The cpu will do ~1.9GHz at 2.00v (voltage modified motherboard). My goal is to sell this board (Asus A7V266-E) sometime and get the Epox 8KHA+. I should be able to hit pretty close to 2Ghz with it (modified up to ~2.2v vcore). Later on I'll be moving to an R404 compressor (freon) rig. Looking to hit 2.0-2.2ghz with that if I can get it implemented well. Peltiers aren't a good idea anymore for today's cpu's because the only one that really works is the 172 watt (24v) peltier.. and that's only effecient at 17v (129 watts).. The CPU will be over that wattage up around 2ghz (with the voltage mod). Going from 1.6GHz/1.75v stock to 2Ghz/2.1v the wattage will go from 67.6 to 121.7. Not to mention it would take two PSU's in series alone to power it.. so that'd be 3 PSU's in total. I don't want to try frankenputer again. :) As far as noise goes I've got the fans cushioned via silicone cement. It may seem like it would be loud but the PC is very quiet.. even with those two 120mm 131cfm fans going on the radiator. I'd like to mess with one of the new 0.13 micron Thoroughbred cpu's but I'm REALLY looking forward to the Hammer. Have been forever now.. can't wait. :) About the P4-2465's heat.. I don't know, I'm sure it's not as bad as it looks (due to being 0.13 micron). He was air-cooled. I still wouldn't go for his P4 even at ~3GHz. We ran quite a few tests and my XP beat the snot out of that P4 in everything. I am still holding my beliefs that hardware pages touch absolutely nothing in the bios when it comes to testing Athlons and the like. My bios was of course tweaked as much as it can go. I have screenshots somewhere on my FTP (i think in pub/overclockstuff/pics/cam/bios) if you'd like to see some of the settings. On February 28, 2002 at 08:28:15, K.
