Subject: Rebel - Junior LIVE game on next Wednesday

Author: Ed Schröder

Date: 23:16:13 06/28/98

Hello all,

Text taken from the Rebel Home Page. If there are any last minute changes
Amir or I will inform you. If there is enough interest for such live games
I consider the possibility to make it a fixed event, say "Game of the
Month" and play such a LIVE game each month against other opponents too.

The LIFE coverage is at:

http://www.rebel.nl/ChessTutor/live/html"

On July 1 Rebel10 (experimental) will play one LIVE test game against
the reigning World Champion chess program Junior from Amir Ban (Israel).

Rebel10 (experimental) is the same program that will play a 8-game match
against Vishy Anand this month including the special anti-GM settings.

Junior 5.0 (in testing) is the successor of Junior 4.0 which became World
Champion last year in Paris. Junior 5.0 will be released by ChessBase soon.

Goal of this LIVE game is to test the accessibility of the Rebel Home Page
during the LIVE coverage for the real event Rebel vs Vishy Anand from July
21 till July 23.

Rebel will play on a Pentium-II 266 Mhz running under Windows 95 with 60
Mb hash tables. Junior 5.0 will play on a Pentium-II 333 Mhz and 80 Mb
memory. Because of the small hardware advantage of Junior, Rebel will
play with the white pieces.

The level of play is 2 hours for the whole game for each side.

The LIVE game will start wednesday July 1 at 18:00 AMSTERDAM time. There
is a small chance the starting hour might change.

There is NO NEED to press the REFRESH button of your browser. Moves
played by Junior and Rebel will automatically appear on your screen.

Rebel will include its analysis (time, main variation, ply depth, score)
on the screen.

To follow the live game requires a Java enabled browser.
