Since the situation is a "claimed draw", it would make more sense for Searcher to just declare the outcome a draw by sending a result string. But I'm curious why PM didn't recognize the repetition and claim the draw itself?? My humble two cents: A chess program should claim a draw anytime it is allowed to. Any other behaviour would only be advantageous in swindling human players, which seems like bad etiquette for a chess program. I.e. if two humans are playing a match and they both overlook a repeated position, I can imagine that. But if one player is a chess program, it should be capable of accurately detecting repeated positions, and so it ought to "know" when a claimable draw appears, and the courteous thing is for it to claim the draw. Though I guess you could make exceptions if you know you are playing a human GM or something.. wylie
