Since the discussion is about tablebases and the pros and cons of having an incomplete 5-piece set, let me chime in. I have all 3/4/5-piece endgame tables, all 290 files, on two (2) DVDs. Not only that, but they are divided 'intelligently'. What I mean is that on DVD #1, you will find all 3/4-piece + all pawnless 5-piece + all KxxKpiece endgame tables. The KxxKP endgame tables are split between DVDs 1 and 2. Finally, all 4-1 KxxxK endgame tables (1.42 GB) reside on DVD #2. The consequence of such a division is that one can access the endgame tables directly from DVD #1, which has the more important endgame tables, without installing anything on the harddrive. The less important endgame tables are on DVD #2. Of course, there is the added benefit of having only 2 DVDs versus 11-12 CDs. Chessbase sells their incomplete 4 CD Fritz Endgame Turbo for $50. I'm offering the complete set on 2 DVDs for $70 or on 12 CDs for $50. Worldwide shipping included :)
