If the person in question isn't able to replace the motherboard, etc. I
recommend looking around various places that have small combo's. Any of the
Socket-A motherboards with the KT266a chipset will work, the epox is the fastest
however and has massive overclocking potential.

Not only can it overclock well but it supports 166fsb(333DDR @ 1/5pci divider)
and 200fsb(400DDR @ 1/6 PCI).. This means later on when you'd like to upgrade
your cpu and say, amd releases a 2166MHz CPU with a bus speed of 166/333Mhz then
you can easily drop in the new CPU without problems (as long as your ram can
handle it of course).

Pricewatch.com is a good place to gauge how much something should cost in a
combo.. add it up & $20 extra is usually alright (they need to make a couple $'s
heh). For the system I mentioned try not to pay over $300.

Also make sure you get a superb heatsink/fan. Even if it seems like overkill (I
promise it won't be). If you get a heatsink/fan (such as the Alpha 8045(pain in
the butt) or the SK6(good & easy to install)) then you won't need to get another
one when you get a new CPU. I notice lots of people paying $15-25 for another
heatsink/fan every time they upgrade. After a few cpu upgrades that can add up
to more than you'd have liked. This extra $ could be spent on ram or for 100-300
more mhz (or whatever) on a future upgrade.

Currently I still recommend the SK6 from Thermalright. It's good, easy to
install & you can use a wide range of fans. If you want maximum cooling find an
SK6 + 60mm 8,000 rpm delta fan combo. This will be very loud however. There is
the YS Tech 7,000 rpm thats a little bit quieter than the 8k and cools a bit
worse but it's still good overall. Delta 7K isn't bad either (but louder than
the YS Tech). The reason I don't really recommend the MC462 or the Alpha 8045 is
because they require you to remove the motherboard to install AND when you
tighten them they can potentially crack the cpu and warp the motherboard.

Hope this helps.. If anyone needs any help installing anything email me and I
can walk you through the install via the phone or chat(if you have a second pc
to chat with).
