He does not have to prove anything playing wise (except what all elite
chessplayers has to prove) nobody can win an event like fide knockout, wether we
like this event or not, without belonging to the elite.
What he is doing now in Linares is proving sceptics wrong, others already knew
that his rating was/is justified.
Most people i have talked to that did not care for pono's result did not do so,
because they rather saw ivanchuck winning, not because they did not like the
event :)
I think that the real farce was the statements made by ivanchuck after the match
where he credited his loss to the timecontrol and in his own words "other
mysterious factors" :) he said that pono did not play good, but where does that
leave his own skills?? agreed i don't like fide i don't like their timecontrols,
but the conditions were the same for both players and pono won!
In Linares he again beat ivanchuck, this time using standard Time control....
so where is chucky now with his claims??

Jonas
