The Washington Post would be correct if white could 0-0-0 (1.d7 Kc7 2.d8(Q)+ KxQ
3.0-0-0 + Ke7 4.KxR, black is history and game over!
But if this was an actual game i doubt if the above was the case!
The move 1. "d7" would follow by Kc7, then either white's move, "Ra7+" or "Rd1"
would be forced to hold the pawn.
If Ra7+, then Kd8
If Rc1, then Rb8
In both cases black will move his Rook into a position to attack the white pawn
and the pawn will be lost.
