I have this old Chess Challenger 7. It has about 7-8 levels of play and I've always wondered how deep it searches and whether any of the search is full width. Are there test positions that I could give it that would tell me how deep it was searching? I was thinking of maybe a series of mate-in-1, mate-in-two, mate-in-three, etc that would tell me the maximum depth. How would I test the full width depth? Are there collections of mates that have no captures or checks right up to mate so that search extensions and selective filters wouldn't be triggered? Rich
