I did the same as you, except that I used a shorter time control: 15 minutes blitz per side. This enabled me to have more games over the course of two days. I also had large discrepencies between the scores at times during the match, but now, after 79 matches, the score is exactly equal - and I mean exactly: Both enginges had won 28 games, with the remainder of the points coming from draws. The only conclusion I make from this, is that, when played against each other, the engines are of the same strength. I believe that the Paderborn enginge will however fare a lot better against other strong engines like Fritz, as I believe that the changes to the engine were aimed at correcting weaknesses which were being exploited by other strong programs. The real test of the Paderborn engine's strength must ultimately lie in its performance against a range of other programs, and cannot accurately be determined even in a 10000 games between itself and Shredder 6. So can those with a full suite of chessbase enginges start running some tournaments then ;-) Jaco
