This is speculation since I have no data having not tried a match with and without EGTB, but distinguishing between won, lost and drawn five man endings (krpkr etc) in the search and therefore correctly liquidating from the middlegame to the endgame would appear at first sight to be an advantage. Even bigger, the bigger the available EGTB. (Chinook would seem a reasonable analogy. And while impossible 32 man EGTB would of course definitely lead to better play.). There is the negative aspect of severe speed degredation, leading to tatical loss earlier in the game - if this what you had in mind. It might be interesting to speculate about the balance point for various EGTB sizes and hardware speed. Frank
