I am a 30+ year correspondence chess veteran. The game has changed greatly.
Computers and the internet have lead this change.
I have a need for a new chess tool to add to my arsenal. I would like a utility
that would allow one to put a PGN gamescore through analysis and establish a
probability who my "real" opponent is. The output could look something like
this:
Opponent Probability
Fritz 7 93%
Tiger 14 76%
Fritz 6 54%
Other 12% <---- Possibly human
I realize that game length and analysis time would be major variables affecting
the output. I'm sure there are others.
Nice to have additional features would be the flexibility to add and chose new
engines. It would also be nice to have output listing the strengths/weaknesses
and recommended anti-computer chess strategies for the highest probability
engine. This could be updated periodically and be part of a complete commercial
package.
Unlike many of you I am not a computer expert, merely a hobbyist. I am also a
serious correspondence chess player. I don't know how complicated it would be
to develop a tool like this (nor even how useful it might be), but the concept
intriques me as a way to help prepare and enjoy chess without being overwhelmed
by all the strong programs you guys developed :)
Possible? Would this add value for other serious chess players?
