But after 1.Be3, Black can play 1...Qc6 and be OK:

1.Re3 Qc6

   [1...Be6? 2.Nh7! mates]

2.Qh4 Ne4

   [2...Qa4 3.Qh5 Qf4 4.Nxf7 Ne4 5.Qh8+ Kxf7 6.Rf3 Qxf3 7.gxf3 Nxf2 ±]

   [2...Bf5 3.Rf3 Qg6
      a)3...Qd7 4.Nd2 c6 5.b4 Na4 6.g4 Be6
         (6...Bg6 7.Rh3 +-)
        7.Rh3 Ng6 8.Qh6 Bc7 9.Ndf3 +-;
      b)3...Be6 4.Rg3 Ng6 5.Qh7+ Kf8 6.Rf3 Ke8 7.Qg8+ Nf8
        8.Rxf7 Ncd7 9.Nd2 a5 +-;
    4.Rg3 Bxb1 5.Nh7 Nxh7 6.Rxb1 Nf8 +=]

3.Nxe4 dxe4 4.Rxe4

   [4.Rg3+ Ng6 =]

4...Ng6 5.Qd8+ Kh7 =
