Subject: Interview with Frans Morsch

The Dutch magazine 'Computerschaak' has an interview with Frans
Morsch. It contains some interesting quotes, which I've translated
below. (hope this falls under fair use)

(about the Fritz-Junior qualification match)

'I got the impression Junior had an advantage of 2 years
over Fritz. As a professional programmer, this was terrible
news to me. For a moment, I was really scared'
'Of course I analyzed the games. It became clear to me that,
in positional setups, Junior's pawn sacrifices did not make
any sense at all'

'When the match was finally equalized, it became clear to
me that Junior was not a better program than Fritz is. That
was very important to me. It meant more than qualifying itself.'

(future)

'I predict a 3-5 against Kramnik. Fritz will not win a single
game'
'I have been working on Fritz 8 for a while. It's being developed
in parallel with Fritz 7 now. It will use a new BitBoard system
and that offers a lot of options for future improvement. Because
Fritz 7 has a lot of new knowledge, it has gotten a lot slower.
Fritz 8 should be a lot faster again. I think there's about 50
elo points to gain there.'
