Go up one level in this thread

2.1Ghz doesn't make any sense. The way AMD has been going with their + crap
it is at most 300Mhz from the actual clock speed. What , now they are going to
compare their 64bit cpu with a 32bit P4??? That makes zero sense. And if they
are they are shooting way too low, A 64bit chip as from what i've heard is going
to be twice the performance of 32bit so their 2.1Ghz ?? would be the equivalent
of a 4.2Ghz P4. So 4200+ hehe maybe this + nonsense will stop and AMD will be
forced to give us faster clock speeds as well. The whole argument that you don't
need to have the same clock speed to be better is fine but it would be better
just to put out a 2.2Ghz Athlon and cut the crap and beat them that way by a
long shot.

Anyhow i hope that the chess programs out there can migrate to 64bit quickly,
there's 64bit versions of crafty so i don't think this should be that much of a
problem now more programs that work on clusters and maybe some that will take
advantage of SMT. What about a Cluster of CPU's with SMT!
