Tom,

i didn't know you can buy a power4 for $200 already.

Perhaps we must write down $20000 ?

10 years ago many people said: "now we can get 64 bits soon".

in 2002 i still hear it, i have not seen a 64 bits processor faster
than a 32 bits processor yet for chessprograms.

the hammer first must be on the market, and after that first proof its
64 bits instructions are faster than fastest 32 bits processor.

Wanna bet with me for some bottle of wine we won't be able to buy in the
stores here in Netherlands (with the biggest port in the world)
for say march 2003 a processor that's 64 bits and where diep
running 64 bits is faster at than on any 32 bits processor
(both production processors, let's not go into overclocking)
for under $2000?

Note that in DIEP i'm using 'int' everywhere, i'm not using 8 bits nor
16 bits instructions, so a normal native compile is no problem.

Best regards,
Vincent
