The book would explain how to get and set up and use free chess programs in general, not just Crafty. Buying the book would be cheaper for a lot of people than buying chess software because they either aren't aware of Winboard/Arena/etc. and all the free and strong engines out there, or they aren't inclined to figure it all out without a book for help.
