Assuming that you have several choices language for which you are equally skilled and that C is among that set of languages: Do it in C. It is a wee bit faster than the alternatives. More than 3/4 of the chess engines are written in C. Therefore, all the examples will be in that language. More people will be able to offer solutions to problems. On the other hand, if you have some other language at which you are an expert and you are not an expert in C, then do it in that other language.
