What you saw was natural. Some program will die on similar position but few will
not. There are a good chance that Chess Master will solve it without any trouble
and quickly. Few other programs and mate solvers are able also solving similar
positions.

Only one mate solver, until now was able to solve similar positions with brute
force without any trouble and at good time. It is Chest solver written by Marxen
Heiner. This solver even have now accessible graphic interface. This program is
free and you can find it on Web.
