There's no problem in a position tournament, a Latvian gambit thematic or
whatever. It was the point regarding learning about the influence of opening
books that struck me as odd. Using a newer or unknown set would have been wiser
in that regard IMO. That's all.

Using terms like fair and unfair doesn't make sense. If they did work hard on
the Nunn positions and lost, then their effort wasn't sufficient or good enough
(or they/it suffered from bad luck). But this is rather hypothetical and
irrelevant.
