Since Emanuel is back from abroad tournaments, he now wants to play some serious games vs a top program. As before these games are thought as pure training games for Emanuel. They will be played under strict tournament conditions with chessboard, clock and scoresheet. 2 hours per player and game. First game is schedueled Friday 5/4. The last match ended 2.5-1.5 in favour of Emanuel vs Gambit Tiger 2.0. We hope for more games this time since he is free from tournament play at least two months. Emanuel's trip to Bermudas gave him his first GM-norm, by finishing 2nd in the closed tournament. He followed this up by then winning the Bermuda open, ahead of a.o. US players Larry Christiansen, Soltis, Nakamura, Shahade and Perelshteyn. Also in Reykjavik things looked very good when Emanuel only needed 1 point in the two last rounds, to get his 2nd GM-norm. He blew it that time due to lack of opening preparation and much too hazardous play. As a curiosity I can mention that he has never offered his opponent a draw in any game. Peaceful draws aren't exactly this man's liquor... ;-) Emanuel hasn't studied much from books so he litterally improves by every game played. The computer opponent isn't chosen yet but we hope for a newer version of Chess Tiger. I'm still awaiting response from Christophe. This for several reasons: It would be a sort of revenge match for a stronger Tiger - it would be intresting to know if Emanuel can sense any differences compared to the old version - furthermore I have the idea that a new Tiger just might prove to be the toughest opposition possible right now. If for some reason Christophe isn't ready for this, we'll probably go for Fritz 7.006. In any case I'm looking forward to some exciting games. As far as publicity, it's up to Emanuel - but it looks like he has loosened up quite a bit with this issue. I think the whole games can be publiced, except should there be a specific novelty tried in the opening. In that case we can show the game from somewhere in the middlegame and on. Sune
