Is this retractor move being devised in anticipation of computer playing chess programs becoming stronger than any of us in the near future, or is it a way of avoiding games between humans being spoilt by blunders? The idea is ok, but surely not to be used in, eg, National or World Championship matches. It's another fun variation of the game to help attract interest, similar to 'Fischerandom'. I've been playing 'retractor' chess against my chess programs for years, suspect most of us have. It's a good training ploy when using a program. As time passes, and retracting still does'nt save us against the programs, will 'double retracting' be introduced?
