(Please don't make technically based replies to this post... I know that what I'm suggesting is currently technically impossible and will remain impossible for many years). Imagine that you've heard of an unknown programmer who has managed to create 32-piece chess tablebases. Due to his revolutionary new compression techniques the tablebases can be fit onto one CD, and he plans to make them commercially available. Now, what would you do? 1. Wait for the release of the 32-piece tablebase and recommend it to all your friends as the greatest thing since sliced bread. 2. Buy the rights to the product off the programmer and make sure you are the only one who can use it in your bid to become world champion. 3. Shoot the programmer and destroy his work before he has a chance to publish it.
