What happened is that Chess Tiger does not know that it has been stopped by the
"low battery" warning message.

While this message is on the screen, Chess Tiger is completely stopped, but the
Palm's clock is not!

So maybe Chess Tiger thought for 2 seconds, then the message popped up, you saw
it one minute after, and when you tapped on "OK" the control has been returned
to Chess Tiger, which was forced to play immediately because it thought that it
had largely overstepped its target time.

When you see such a popup dialog box, the right thing to do is to retract the
last move, replay it, and let Chess Tiger think again. The program restores the
clock to the correct value when you retract a move, so everything should be
fine.
