Subject: Idea for Chess Base...

Chess Base is a great company; That being said, I think that the several hundred
dollars I (and others no doubt), spend on updated versions of their playing
programs and game databases each year, could be seriously reduced at very small
cost to Chess Base by introducing a subscription based service much like Chess
Publishing does. Here's how it would work: Lets say you wanted to own every
new chess engine & upgrade that came out in a year - You would pay something
like $200 dollars up-front, and then they would all be sent to you
automatically. Say you only wanted to get upgrades of the Fritz engine (BTW,
I'm not talking about the online upgrade of the gui here), then maybe you would
pay something like $25 a year or whatever.

The same sort of program could be applied to Game Databases like Mega and
Correspondence chess & so forth. If you are a user of Chess Base products for
many years, and have often bought these game databases & playing programs, then
the savings of subscribing to such a program (if it existed), could become quite
substantial.

I especially wecome replies from Chess Base officials...
