Dear Oliver, You are stick to the past when progs was still quite dumb, but nowadays these programs really shines and beat the best gm's without many efforts, hardware is also contributing to these outstanding performances, but also refined search algorithm that achieved the following break-through predicted by Thompson et al. : "Selective search will always loom as a potentially faster road to high level play.
