Maybe you forgot to read the first paragraphs in sjeng.rc.

# First number is the number of entries in the hash
# table (transposition table). Each entry is 40 bytes,
# so multiply the following number by 40 to know how
# much RAM Sjeng will use for the hashtables.
#
# Note that Sjeng uses 13M RAM for internal data on top
# of this number.

There's the possibility of setting the number of entries too high.
