From what i understand, ti makes sure that the program avoid closed positions, by opening up the game, typically with pawnmoves in the center. Also when playing a human it will probably try to be more tactical and avoid simplifications (unless winning of course). Basically what ever you could think of that a strong human would do to get into anti comp positions, it will try to avoid (or rather the programmer will try to avoid by aplying codes to prevent as much as possible).
