Hello Rex,
I have the same problem with Fritz 6 GUI.  There is no problem with Junior 7 GUI
or the Fritz 7 GUI as far as setting the contempt factor (F7 has many other
problems which ChessBase seems unwilling to acknowledge or fix).  You might try
an email to Chessbase. (Good Luck)
