How efficient it is to 'update' pseudomoves (as opposed to create them completely from scratch) is very dependant on the internal structures you use. Also, depending on your engine, the time you spend in generating the moves is a small fraction of the whole engine, so the added complexity (and small speed gain) is not worth it for many (if not all) engines.
