This happened me too often to even care. But what kind of search your mate searcher do usually? Mine, when look for mate, make search in two different ways. First - simple selective. Second - compound search. "Simple selective" is search for mate where all moves from attacking side are checking moves. "Compound selective" where initially some moves are searched by brute force and later only "simple selective" is executed.
