Freeware Win32 app to facilitate sending an EPD/FEN string to Chest to solve. In early development version. Available at: http://home.attbi.com/~ardee/Chester1.html Chester1 versions ----------------- Version 0.11 (14 Apr 2002): Fixed a bug in which what was sent to Chest was always the contents of the clipboard, even when the text field was different from that. Version 0.10 (13 Apr 2002): Initial release. Chester1 future plans (not prioritized here) -------------------------------------------- 1. Figure out why a batch file is required (without it, Chest quits before you can read what it has to say) and do away with it if possible! 2. Show Chest's output in a separate, scrollable, GUI window (but: we don't know how long Chest will take -- it could take hours -- and we cannot communicate with it while it is thinking and thus we cannot show its progress or know WHEN to display results). 3. Permit the user to set various parameters (there are alreadly hidden controls for some). Which ones? Feedback appreciated. 4. Rewrite in C (should be easy) or, better, in Tcl/Tk so it can be cross-platform. 5. Add a menu bar, an 'About' box, a Version resource, etc. 6. Permit the user to point to (via a standard Open dialog box) the copy of Chest he wishes to use, rather than requiring that Chest be in the same directory as Chester1 and be named "Chest.exe". 7. Save preferences in the registry (or maybe in a simple prefs file), especially for the location and name of Chest. 8. Give it a real name!
