At least I can say that he has also a sense for the practical side of computer
chess (in addition to his "secrets of" endgame books for example, which he wrote
using endgame databases). Recently he has developed a chess performance
benchmark, partially because he thought the Fritzmark to be not transparent
enough. It was published by CSS magazine in February.
