This person took my thought away: It's nice that AMD is looking to get into the PDA market, but a MIPS processor? Now let's see, Palm OS currently has the lion's share of the market, but their new OS5 release is compiled for ARM. Hmmmmmmm....... Okay, the PPC units are second in the market place......but wait, Microsoft has defined a hardware standard for PPC2002, and it is ........ ARM. Maybe AMD can find some business in the upcoming Smartphone industry, but it seems like the majority of the PDA industry has already moved, or announced intent to move, to ARM-based processors. This announcement ends up looking like a nice idea a year or two late...... http://www.pdalive.com/forums/showthread.php?s=2df6060a0cc4a11103b88055352c0af9&postid=3102#post3102
