a) is correct; L1 cache 512Kb @225MHz

And Xeon/450 arrives with it, with upto 2Mb L1 cache @ 450MHz.

Price ratio between the two is expected to be up to >5 times.

Having examined some technical documentation (sorry - have this on paper only by
faxback) I think for chess purposes the advantage of the biggest Xeon will be c
10%.  So, does not justify a >400% price diff, IMO.
