I am only surprised by the few "experts" that should know better.

I remember last year one or two of the "experts" were saying that all the GM's
would crush the programs and that no GM would consider a program "GM strength".
I do not read that argument anymore, I just read rantings about how weak "all
the programs are" when one makes an early mistake in a game. Ofcourse the same
"experts" discount that the vast majority of rated games are drawn or won by the
top programs.

You are right.

Here are the current standings for comps against GM Gulko and GM Smirin so far:

Fritz +1 after 2 games TPR = 2805, Opp rating = 2605
Hiarcs +1 after 3 games TPR = 2770, Opp rating = 2638
Junior even after 2 games TPR = 2605, Opp rating = 2605
Shredder -1 after 3 games TPR = 2504, Opp rating = 2638
Chess Tiger has not played yet.

4 comp TPR for 10 games = 2664, Opp rating = 2624.

Hiarcs has a tough time facing GM Smirin as black later. Both Junior and Tiger
have white/black games remaining. Shredder has white and needs it.

Fritz TPR will not change. Hiarcs will be over 2650. Shredder is the only
program in real trouble right now, but could be over 2650 with a win or over
2550 with a draw. Junior should improve it's rating and I expect Tiger to do
well.

HW is dual 1Ghz for Fritz, Junior and Shredder and 2.2Ghz for Hiarcs and Tiger.
I wonder how many human GM's would like to have this type of results against
GM's Gulko and Smirin?
