Hello Martin,

Yace is written by Dieter Buerssner, one of the brighter chess programming
lights (IMHO) to come along in awhile. I believe you can freely download
Yace but not redistribute it. Unfortunately, no source code :( but Dieter
seems very willing to discuss his ideas and programming techniques, which
is certainly helpful. As far as when he intends to produce an official 1.0
version, well I think he is asymptotically approaching that goal ;)
I don't know about future Linux support, but I hope so since I don't use
Windows except when forced. Linux is by far my preferred operating system
(I cut my teeth on SunOs and Unix). Our entire house is wired with Cat-5 and
runs Linux (including a wireless network).

I knew Yace was going to be good as soon as I heard the name (in the tradition
of YACC). Anyone clever enough to grab onto that moniker was bound to produce
a decent engine, not to mention he was more than likely a Unix hack [that's
a compliment by the way]. Yace is fast as hell, and a really tough opponent.

For more info, you'll need to talk to Dieter.
