I have the AMD Athlon with Windows XP. New computer. Kept old computer.
Chessbase 8 does not run well on MY xp and my old Win98 runs circles around the
XP. My old Win 98 was AMD 350mh while my XP is 1.72gh. I have all the latest
upgrades for CB8. I had heard that the chess programs worked fine under XP.
Perhaps I have a problem I am unaware of. But I wish I had stayed with Win98.
Well, I still do since I still have my old computer. Anyway, I would suggest
trying out your chess programs on a friends XP if possible. CB8 would not
switch to Fritz, and it would run very slowly when allowing CB8 to analyze and
make a move after the 40th or 50th move. Since others have said they had no
problems with XP, it could be something is set wrong on my systemm a VAIO.
